Tucked away near the well-known hill station, Pachmarhi and bordering the Satpura National park is a beautiful place called Tamia.
Till recently, Tamia housed an undiscovered tribal community in the Patalkot Valley which has since become well known for their medicines (jadi butti). The LETS Camp Tamia is situated on a cliff that overlooks the Patalkot Valley. Steps lead down from the camp into this untouched valley while the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Department has also made popular the Patalkot viewpoint, right next to the LETS Camp Tamia.
This is not the only secret of this place. Interestingly, Tamia is situated on what is arguably the oldest mountain range in the world (yes! older than the Himalayas). A 200 year old tree stands majestically on the camp. The camp itself is on a plateau with uninterrupted views so that one sees both the sunrise and sunset from the camp!
The Chota Mahadev Caves is just a 15min trek from the camp through a jungle and stream. It is believed to have waters with medicinal values.
Apart from the historic and cultural, LETS Camp Tamia offers an active holiday with friends and families. Treks, Ropes Course and archery are some of the things you can do while on camp.
It's time to book your trip to this scenic, uncommercialised spot and spend a few days away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life.
